List of Institutions in our Archdiocese

Our Archdiocese supports a number of institutions, including those charitable, educational and monastic, as well as several chaplaincies.

These institutions are nation-wide, and as such, cannot be placed into any one state.

New South Wales

St Raphael's Mission
a Sydney-based charity offering a meal and a conversation to the homeless of Sydney; we also offer the opportunity for volunteers to meet people who may change their lives.

Arabic School
St Nicholas Church, Punchbowl, is offering Arabic classes.
When:  Every day of the week, from 4:30-6:30pm, beginning Friday 2 May, 2008.

Australian Christian Orthodox Youth
ACOY Sydney is the central youth group for the parishes in Sydney.


Antiochian Orthodox Monastery of St Anna
St Anna Monastery is a women's monastery in the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia and New Zealand.

This is a social welfare program is aimed at ministering to those in need of such, with branches in Punchbowl, Sydney, and East Melbourne.

Melbourne Institute of Orthodox Christian Studies
MIOCS is a theological institute that was co-founded by our Archdiocese, as part of the United Faculty of Theology, offering both accredited and non-accredited study into Orthodoxy.

Note: There has been a change in location for the 'Orthodox Spiritual' course being offered by MIOCS: this class will now be held at St Nicholas Church, East Melbourne; Thursdays from 6:30-9:30pm from February 28, 2008.  The cost of this semester-long course is $240 (or $20/class).  Dr Heshmat Keroloss will be the lecturer, and study will concentrate on the Early Church Fathers and our Orthodox spiritual life.  Study materials will be provided, as will tea and coffee.

Australian Christian Orthodox Youth

An Orthodox chaplaincy is in establishment at Bond University.

St Paul's Orthodox Youth Society
SPOYS runs out of St Paul Church, Brisbane.  It hosts a Bible study at the Church and has formed a youth choir.

Bible Study: Fortnightly (from 11/May) on Sundays, 6:00-7:00pm.
Youth choir: Immediately after the Divine Liturgy on Sundays (approx. 11:30am) for 30mins
