Our Lady of Sayidnaya

Located at the centre - top of icon

This icon of the Mother of God is from the famous Convent of Our Lady in Sayidnaya, Syria.

This is the most famous convent within the Patriarchate of Antioch and all the East. In this convent, there exists one of the four original icons written by the hand of the Evangelist Luke.

This icon is included to represent the great love for the Theotokos by the faithful of the See of Antioch and also to remember Saint Luke (October 18) who was himself a native of Antioch.

Other Apostles from Antioch include Thaddeus (Jude)(August 21) born in Beirut, and Thomas (October 6) who was from Edessa.
