The Festival of the Family celebrating: the Traditional Marriage

Under the Patronage and blessing of the Assembly of Apostolic Eastern Churches and in association with the Coalition for Marriage, the Historical Festival of the Family was held on Sunday, 8th October. Almost 10,000 people were in attendance at the Festival to celebrate Traditional Marriage and enjoy a day out with their children. The Festival featured guest speakers, food stalls, rides, live music and the attendance of several dignitaries. The atmosphere at Fairfield Showground was that of overwhelming unity, love and support for the importance of upholding traditional marriage and family values. It was a unique event, where several Christian denominations were in synergy in their beliefs about the dangers of changing the law on marriage to include same sex couples, protecting children from transgender sex education and upholding the importance of freedom of speech and Religion in Australia. Hundreds of passionate Volunteers worked side by side to ensure a fun and safe day was had by all.

On behalf of the Antiochian Orthodox archdiocese, Mrs. Olga Abwi, mother of four and very active and committed member of our archdiocese gave her testimony about the importance of both, father and mother in the life and growing up of children. The Festival of the Family was a great success.
